Anna Evelyn Lewis, born October 24, 1930 and passed away on March 29, 2015. Preceded in Death by brothers, B.S. “Bud” Lewis, Joe Lewis, Bobby Lewis, Charles Lewis; sisters; Naomi Alsup, Sue Dewberry, Marian Lewis. Miss Lewis spent most of her working career with Internal Revenue Service, with the distinction of being the first female revenue officer. As a “revenuer,” she checked on illegal whiskey operations in the mid-state and visited non-payers of their income tax. She had the distinction of being the first female IRS revenue agent in Tennessee. She was a devoted member...

Anna Evelyn Lewis, born October 24, 1930 and passed away on March 29, 2015. Preceded in Death by brothers, B.S. “Bud” Lewis, Joe Lewis, Bobby Lewis, Charles Lewis; sisters; Naomi Alsup, Sue Dewberry, Marian Lewis. Miss Lewis spent most of her working career with Internal Revenue Service, with the distinction of being the first female revenue officer. As a “revenuer,” she checked on illegal whiskey operations in the mid-state and visited non-payers of their income tax. She had the distinction of being the first female IRS revenue agent in Tennessee. She was a devoted member of the Granny White Church of Christ since 1954 and as a member taught children’s classes during VBS and for many years taught the Ladies Adult Bible Class. She and her sister Marian are well known for their many benevolent works, as well as their charity giving to many wonderful works. Together, these two sisters have traveled the United States, often carrying nieces and nephews with them. The two of them often traveled to distant places in the world carrying their Aunt Sally Chisam and sister Naomi.



Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at eleven o’clock in the morning, Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home with visitation starting at nine o’clock on Saturday until the service. Interment to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Nashville, TN.
